In 2008 composer and pianist Sid Hille participated in the competition 'Scrivere in Jazz' which is organized by the Associazione Blue Note Orchestra in Sassari, Sardegna. The Orchestra Jazz della Sardegna performed Sid's winning composition Tango Morbido Y Cinico, and there Sid heard the big band's tenorist Massimo Carboni for the first time. An immediate musical empathy between the two, an understanding and liking of each other's musical ideas, led to the idea to form a band and play together: jazz across the boundaries of time and space!
Jazz is always in the moment, never finished, always developing. 
'InFinIta' works with new material that Sid composed especially for this project. A music that is very personal, allowing for the background of the musicians involved, each with a different history and with different preferences, yet at the same time giving a very clear structure and perspective on the state of improvisation, NOW. Sid's compositional concept is to make written music sound as if it were improvised, fresh and spontaneous, and to create space for improvised solos, that sound as if they were composed: strong personal statements, valid, NOW.
At the heart of such a band must be communication, mutual understanding, a liking - possibly anticipation - of each other's musical thoughts.
Just like the one between Sid and Massimo, where it all started.
